2006 Christmas Card

--If you have already read this then I appologize--
When I first started this blog site up I wrote that every so often I would include something that I had written in the past. Well, with my eyes still not 100% and since I still have trouble focusing on a computer screen I saw this to be the best time to share something I wrote almost three years ago. Have you ever received updates from friends and family by way of a Christmas card? So have I and I find them to be over the top cheesy. However, what you are about to read below is my mock Christmas card for 2006. Enjoy.

Season's greetings yall, season's greetings! I know it's a week past Christmas but we have all just been so busy. Between getting the kids to their winter activities and trying to keep the house clean after them; well you can just imagine that we have had our hands full. Andrew likes to joke with me telling me that having 2 kids was all my idea and he was just a helpless victim brought along for an 18 year odyssey. That man is something else! Everyday around our house is an adventure, starting with our youngest.

Christopher recently turned 7 years old and is always on the go! This is his first year in a pee wee basketball league. He doesn't play the most but he loves his time out there and always has a smile. He is the twinkle in my eye! We try to make it to as many of his games as possible but it can prove to be quite the challenge. It took Christopher longer than the other boys to learn the rules of basketball. During his first game Christopher threw the basketball at another little boy. Thankfully there were no serious injuries on the court. In the bleachers though, there is another story. The other little boy's father didn't take to kind to the incident. Andrew, who was sent home from work early that day for being drunk on the job, stood behind our child and began fighting with the opposing father. It was a fun day for the family but unfortunately Andrew is banned for the remainder of the year. After leaving the game Andrew picked up a 6 pack and drove Christopher home teaching him that the most important thing in life is standing up for what you believe in! That boy is going to grow up to be just like his father! It should already be implied that Andrew and I are thrilled!

Dakota, are 14 year old recently discovered that she is pregnant! That is right folks, Andrew & I are about to officially become grandparents. Andrew couldn't be more thrilled because he believes this is the year he will take home the crown of youngest grandfather at the county fair. Dakota is almost certain she knows who the father is and we can not wait to welcome him into the family. Can you believe we'll be referred to as "in-laws?" It's the strangest of things. Aside from her big news she is your typical teenager. Staying out at all hours of the night and never telling us what she is doing or who she will be with. Andrew's parole officer told him that aliens take your child as a teenager and return them at the end of their 19th year. If that's the case Dakota will give us a rough couple of years!

As for Andrew, well he got fired from his job again this year. It really had him down for a while and he said it is what has led him to stay out at the bar every night. I told him that is what made him lose his job. That silly man! So while in between jobs he has been spending some time down at the racetrack and running errands for this guy up the street late in the evening. He says its good work but nobody is to know about it. Ooops! Looks like I spilled the beans on that one!
As for me, well I hope yall got my postcard. I recently made an appearance on the Ricki Lake show for middle aged married women who secretly cheat on their husbands. The show went great. Luckily for my sake Andrew forgot to pay the cable bill for the previous 2 months so he never saw the show. What can I say, the man is very predictable and I love him for it.

Well yall, I guess that closes the books on another year here. I hope yall are doing great and can make it down in a couple of months to watch Dakota pop the little one out. It will be nice when that is all over and our family can finally get back to being normal. Andrew can't wait for the baby to get here because now we will finally have a name to get our cable turned back on to!

Happy Holidays,

The Romicks
